چکیده
We consider sharp interface asymptotics for a phase field model motivated by lipid raft formation on near spherical biomembranes involving coupling between the local mean curvature and composition. A reduced diffuse energy depending only membrane composition is introduced $\\Gamma$-limit derived. It shown that Euler–Lagrange equations limiting functional coincide. Finally, we system of gradient flow with conserved Allen–Cahn dynamics model. Performing formal asymptotic analysis, obtain geodesic to fourth order PDE free boundary problem surface deformation.

Sharp Interface Limit of a Homogenized Phase Field Model for Phase Transitions in Porous Media
A homogenized phase field model for phase transitions in porous media is considered. By making use of the method of formal asymptotic expansion with respect to the interface thickness, a sharp interface limit problem is derived. This limit problem turns out to be similar to the classical Stefan problem with surface tension and kinetic undercooling.

Abstract. Using method of matched asymptotic expansions, we derive the sharp interface limit for the diffusive interface model with the generalized Navier boundary condition recently proposed by Qian, Wang and Sheng in [9, 11] for the moving contact line problem. We show that the leading order problem satisfies a boundary value problem for a coupled Hale-Shaw and Navier-Stokes equations with th...
متن کاملFinite element approximation of a sharp interface approach for gradient flow dynamics of two-phase biomembranes
A finite element method for the evolution of a two-phase membrane in a sharp interface formulation is introduced. The evolution equations are given as an L2– gradient flow of an energy involving an elastic bending energy and a line energy. In the two phases Helfrich-type evolution equations are prescribed, and on the interface, an evolving curve on an evolving surface, highly nonlinear boundary...
متن کاملA Phase-field Model for Solid-state Dewetting and Its Sharp-interface Limit
We propose a phase field model for solid state dewetting where the surface energy is weakly anisotropic. The evolution is based on the Cahn-Hilliard equation with degenerate mobility and a free boundary condition at the film-substrate contact line. We derive the corresponding sharp interface limit via matched asymptotic analysis involving multiple inner layers. The resulting sharp interface mod...
متن کاملSharp Interface Limit for a Phase Field Model in Structural Optimization
We formulate a general shape and topology optimization problem in structural optimization by using a phase field approach. This problem is considered in view of well-posedness and we derive optimality conditions. We relate the diffuse interface problem to a perimeter penalized sharp interface shape optimization problem in the sense of Γ-convergence of the reduced objective functional. Additiona...
